Joao Palhinha, a 29-year-old midfielder, has revealed he was happy to score his first goal as a Bayern Munich player in Tuesday’s 3-0 friendly win over Swarovski Tirol.
Bayern Munich paid an initial €51m plus €5m in add-ons to sign Palhinha from Fulham this summer. With the 29-year-old set to fill a problematic No.6 role under Thomas Tuchel. And the Portuguese has slowly settled into Vincent Kompany’s side, scoring his first goal for the Bavarians.
‘It’s a good test to get our bodies fitter. It’s important to give time to the players who haven’t played much recently and to the young players to show that they can do things with the first team,’ Palhinha said.
‘I’ve been training with the team for two weeks now. The training is good, the intensity is good. We have great players and a great team that can do well.’
